Our student water awards recognise individual and organisational achievement and innovation. Students enjoy free entry to the Student Water Prize for university or tertiary institute students and the Australian Stockholm Junior Water Prize for high school students.

Australian Stockholm Junior Water Prize
Overview
The Australian Stockholm Junior Water Prize is an annual water science competition for high school students. Students are challenged to create solutions for water challenges – with the national prize awarded at Ozwater.
The winner of the Australian competition is invited to participate in the Stockholm Junior Water Prize. The prestigious international award is awarded each World Water Week in Sweden.

Eligibility
Open to high school students aged 15-20 who have conducted water-related projects of environmental, scientific, social or technological importance. Students may enter as individuals or groups of up to three. Both members and non-members of AWA are eligible to enter.

2023 Key Dates
Friday, 9 December 2022: Completed project due.
Week commencing 13 March 2023: Shortlisted students present 10-minute presentation to judging panel on their submitted project via video conference.
Late March - Early April 2023: Top four students to present their projects to Australian Water Association members and water industry professionals with an announcement of the winner live via webinar.
Thursday, 11 May 2023: Winner presented with award at Ozwater’23 in Sydney.
Late August 2023: SJWP Ceremony held during World Water Week in Stockholm.

Student Water Prize
Overview
Student Water Prizes are awarded at state or territory level. Winners are invited to present papers as part of the Ozwater conference program, where a national winner is chosen.
The awards recognise and reward students for excellence in water-related studies and research – and provide a platform for connecting with employers, clients and water peers.
Eligibility
Open to students and recent graduates of an Australian university or tertiary institute focused on water-related topics. Open to both members and non-members of AWA.
Judging Criteria
- Relevance of the project, research or thesis to water
- Quality of disciplinary content
- Innovation and originality
- Abstract and paper presentation (oral)
